I Do . . .

If you want to know what's next from Scrapalicious, think "I Do." When I saw Basic Grey's new Wisteria, I immediately thought wedding. Perhaps it's because my bridesmaids wore royal purple, but in my scrap-mind right now, all I can think about is wedding pages. I think these papers will go so nicely with Fancy Pants' new Mixed Media mini album, too.

A combination of chipboard, acrylic and felt pages, these hot new mini books add a ton of texture and variety to your project before you even get started! So stay tuned! It's definitely wedding season, and I'm going scrapping! :-}

It's About Time!

I hope you had a chance this weekend to enjoy the Happy Be Scrappy Online Crop over at Just Cre8. The inspiration was flowing all weekend, and the challenges, tutorials and fun were all non-stop. One of my projects this weekend was teaching an "It's About Time" Altered Clock class. I taught two different methods - to the left is a clock that has an acrylic or glass covering. If you didn't see it on the weekend, click on supply list, then head to Part I and get started on your own!
With a clock that doesn't isn't covered, it's fun to hang elements over the edge. I made this clock for our son's 9th birthday, so I distressed it for a rugged look. Part II teaches this style of clock. Steps for the Sisters clock, above, are shown in Part III. I also hosted a 3-part Journaling Challenge this weekend, and was awed by the layouts and journaling shared. I'll post more about that soon, but until then, check out the awesome crop gallery here. Browsing it is so inspiring!

Something else to look forward to this week is my latest DT kit from Scrapalicious! It's almost wedding season, and I'm going to be creating a beautiful wedding album using one of Fancy Pants' wonderful new mixed media books and the stunning new Basic Grey Wisteria. A peek of that is coming, so check back soon!

Flowers in my Garden

Just Cre8's June Creative Pack includes the coolest little gear album from Maya Road. Since I made a gear album a little while back, I decided to try something fun and different with it. With the June kit and a few pencils pilfered from my kids' desk drawer, I created this cute little spring flower display. The title says "You are the Flowers in my Garden". I thought flowers were a different twist on this product, so for anyone who thinks they are just for boy projects, think again!

Are you looking for something scrappy to do this weekend? Stop by Just Cre8's Happy Be Scrappy Online Spring Crop. With online classes, challenges, tutorials and games, there's something for everyone! I'll be teaching my "It's About Time" altered clock class, as well as hosting a journaling challenge, so drop by and check it out. See the details here.

"See you" there this weekend!

Just Cre8 June Reveal

I sure had a blast creating these layouts with the June Creative Pack from Just Cre8. There are just so many embellishments in this kit that there are endless possibilities for creating! Everything on this page is from the Creative Pack. The Maya Road sheers were fantastic for making large bubbles in this page of Alicia having fun with bubbles. I cut out the tiny circles from one of the Basic Grey Lime Rickey papers and added a drop of Glossy Accents to make the trail of tiny bubbles.
I love the way it turned out. Alicia sure had a love affair with bubbles when she was younger. In fact, when she saw this page, it reminded her of how much fun she has with bubbles, and she immediately found some and headed outside with them. Thank goodness for long weekends, giving us so much time for play!
This layout is called You are my Knight in Shining (but Crooked) Armour, and tells the story of Evan at Halloween two years ago. He loved his knight costume, but the helmet was too big and was always twisting around, falling into his eyes and looking all crooked. I made this layout with Just Cre8's Di-Stressed Out alphabet stamps, which I just added to my stash this month. They're so versatile! I adhered the "but crooked" part of the title on crooked, just for fun.
This layout is made exclusively with items from the June Creative Pack. The gear stamps are so cool, and I had a great time cutting out the gears to make the C and the O in some of the words in my title. This layout celebrates Evan and his friendship with his cousin, Kristian. Since my cousin's family lives a couple of hours away, we only see each other every few months, but we have such a great time together. The photos here cover a few different years but show their relationship so well.

The rest of the Cre8ive Crew did a very inspirational job creating this month. Take a look at their awesome projects here.

And don't forget, Just Cre8 is hosting a Happy Be Scrappy crop this coming weekend. I will be posting more about it, but see here for details until then.

Have a great long weekend!

June Just Cre8 Sneakity Peekity

It's hard to believe that Just Cre8's June kit will be revealed tonight. Has it really been a month already? I have to say, this kit is one of my favourite kits ever! It is full of all kinds of scrappy goodness, and I can seriously see myself using every last scrap. Here's a peek to hold you over until midnight, then check here.

Destination Create Creations

When I made my first altered clock a loooonnng time ago, our friend Indra loved it, and I promised that I would make one for her. I created this at the DC crop a few weekends ago, and used Scenic Route and Websters Pages papers, and Maya Road, Prima and Kaiser embellies. I think Indra is going to love it! Those are her sweet grand-daughters in the photo.
Since I wasn't feeling well the entire weekend with a bad ear infection (that I STILL have - don't ask!), I just wasn't feeling up to designing pages. I had put the product for this shadow box together quite a while ago and decided to work on it. I'm quite happy with how it turned out. I love that the bingo card had a 5 on it to highlight the 5 in our family with the little heart.
Here's the cover of the Maya Road Home Reflections album I made in Caroline Lau's class at the crop. I love it! I used it to tell the story of our family's love for our current home. I'm going to photograph the inside and create a slide show of it when I get a chance. Thanks to my table mates for making it such a great crop, despite my lousy mood due to my icky ear!

Family Matters

Happy Mother's Day to all the moms and grandmas out there!

I hope that everyone had a wonderful Mother's Day weekend. I sure did. In addition to running my first timed 5k run and finishing with a time that's I'm quite happy with, I also finished what has turned out to be one of my favourite projects ever! This clear photo frame, titled Family Matters, is made with Basic Grey's Marrakech and Ambrosia lines.

This photo frame is made of 2 sheets of clear glass, so you can see right through it to the wall behind. With the colours of these two BG product lines, this frame will look awesome hanging in my house. But the best part of this frame is that the photo can be changed whenever I like. I LOVE it, and it was so much fun to make. If you're local, this will be hanging up at for a while at Scrapalicious sometime this week, so drop by and take a peek.

Check back here later in the week, too. I'll be posting the projects that I completed at Destination Create soon, and don't forget that the June kit reveal for Just Cre8 happens on May 15th, so don't miss it!

Destination Create 2009

Destination Create 2009 was an awesome event that was a blast to attend. We were lucky enough to have Caronline Lau from Maya Road there to teach some classes and share some Maya Road product with us - what a treat! I took Caroline's Home Reflections class, and managed to finish this sweet mini album. Thanks, Angela, for taking this (and actually getting the album in the photo!)
The theme for Saturday night's crop party was Hawaiian Luau. Our table created quite the tiki bar (thanks, Kat for your luau decor!) and managed to win the best table decor prize. It was wonderful sharing a table with Angela, Kat, Lori and Jennifer, and despite that I had a miserable ear infection (which I STILL have!), we had some great laughs.
My friend Leanne also came to this year's DC for the first time, and her table tried to give us a run for our money in the table decor contest. Gina, Nancie, Carole and Leanne were a ton of fun to be with, too. Hostesses Patti and Elia were kind and gracious, not to mention a whole lot of laughs. We celebrated Patti's 40th birthday on Saturday night, and really surprised her.

So, for those of you who stayed home this NSD and think you want to attend a retreat next year instead, I highly recommend Destination Create. I will be posting photos of the Home Reflections album as well as the other items I created at the retreat soon, so stay tuned.

Happy National Scrapbook Day!

I hope you had a fantastic NSD weekend! I'm home now from the awesome Destination Create weekend, and bit behind on posting. I had a ton of fun with some great ladies, despite that I spent the weekend with what I now know was a severe middle ear infection - ouch! Talk about bad timing! I'm exhausted, so I'll post more on the DC weekend later this week.

In the interim, here is a little peek at a project that I am almost finished for Scrapalicious, using the vibrant Basic Grey Marrakech line, which goes so nicely with the colours in my home. This is a clear photo frame designed to allow the photo to be changed easily whenever you like. I'm really quite in love with this project, and can't wait to post it once it's finished. More about that soon.

I'm on a bit of an altering kick, I guess, seeing that I completed an altered clock, home reflections mini-album and shadow box while at DC, but no layouts! I'll have images of them to post sometime soon. And it looks like I'll be hitting the layouts at home soon, since I have the awesome June kit from Just Cre8 waiting anxiously for me.

It was also fun to get back to my computer and realize that my recent Glossy Letters tutorial was featured on ScrapScene. Check out the article here.

Well, I'm off to bed, so have a wonderful week and thanks for checking in!
