Blogoversary RAK!

Wow! This little blog has hit its first birthday! I find it hard to grasp that time has passed so quickly. Can you believe it?

Looking back to that first hesitant blog post, I didn't know whether I would be able to keep a blog going. It was an experiment, and one I was worried would be short lived. One year later, I find that creating this record of my scrapbooking work, friends, events, photography and family is a gratifying part of my everyday life.

I'm truly grateful that there are family, friends and friends-I've-not-met-yet who make a visit to this blog a part of their daily routine. Without your support and encouragement, I don't know whether I would have kept this little diary going. So thank you!

As a little gesture of gratitude to those on the other side of the web, I've decided to offer up a RAK of this handy new tool by Fiskars - the Easy Stamp Press. I bought one for myself last week, and think it's one of the handiest inventions since white-core cardstock, so I picked up an extra one! If you're not familiar with it, watch this product tutorial by Christine of Scrap Time.

Scrap Time Fiskars Stamp Press tutorial . . . . isn't that cool!

Of course, in order for me to select a RAK recipient, I need you to leave a comment on this post. To be entered in the RAK draw, please tell me what your best stamping tip is. For example, what kind of ink works best for you? Any suggestions for using different paint types with stamps? What's the coolest technique you've tried? Do you have a favourite, totally versatile stamp set that you turn to over and over? Let me know, and don't forget to include your name so that I can congratulate you if you win! :-)

Post by March 24, 2008 to be eligible for the RAK draw, but if you're reading this after that date, post your tip anyway, just for fun!

Thanks so much once again for your loyalty and support. Here's to another great blogging year!

My best tip is to use a paint edging pad (disposable) to clean your stamps with. Dab a bit of stamp cleaner on your stamp and rub on this paint pad and it gets so clean! Best is that it's disposable and very cheap.

Ok, here is my best tip... begin by taking your stamps out of the tins (for those of us former - or present- S! kit subscribers) and use them! Stamp them on coordinating papers, cut the image out and layer them for a nice dimensional look. I need to heed my own advice... I have just began stamping really and I will use that as my excuse ;) Also, babywipes work well to clean them!

There are SOOOOO many. Ok, I will go with the Stamp-a-ma-jig for your wood block stamps. I don't know how many cards I ruined with crooked images/sentiments before I found this tool. Happy blogaversary!

OHHH I had never seen that tool before that is kind of funky cool (esp for me who seems to always seems to not be able to stamp straight! lol)Well my fav. tip has to do with my cardstock. Believe it or not having them in color order really does help! lol (I use to have them all mixed up but found I can match colors much easier now that they are in order.. might not be the best tip but its my fav. :)

That is one cool tool - I even got to play with one before Christmas! And one of my tips is when you use glossy paper - let the inked stamp sit for a minute on the paper - it seems to absorb the ink better if you give it a minute to sit!

Fiskars products are the best. I personally haven't gotten one of these yet and would love a chance to win one. I did give one to my sister for Christmas last year even though I badly wanted to keep it for myself.

The coolest thing I've tried lately is paper piecing - especially with the Tilda (Magnolia) stamps. It's a little time consuming but very gratifying when you're done because it looks so cool!

Thanks for the opp to win!

Wow! What an awesome prize!!! The neatest thing I've tried is stamping my walls in my studio. It was so much fun and turned out great. I used acrylic paint and a foam brush. Happy Blogoversary!

Awesome blog candy! I watched Stamptime's tutorial and appreciated the link since I didn't know how it works. How handy is that! It's so frustrating to finish a card and then add a sentiment that is crooked...this would remedy that. Most of my stamping is done with the black Versafine stamp pad, which is my favorite. And for organization, nothing works better for me that oodles of photo boxes that I label. I have one for all the different holidays, and use a different one for my glitters, one for envelopes, one for primas, etc. BTW - your scrapbook pages are always so gorgeous. (and it doesn't hurt that you are a great photographer and have such BEAUTIFUL children, either:)

Wow--is that a cool tool. I have not noticed this product in my stores yet. I can't think of a new tip that probably has already going around, but will share this idea. I often make fake brads by just punching out a small circle in the color I need. Sometimes I had glitter to the top of them to make them stand out or add crystal effects to give them a shiny look. Wow, it's been a year already Holly?

You don't have to enter me in the draw bc I already have that stamp press and it's an AWESOME tool especially for those larger fancy pants stamps.

As for inks, I personally like the Versafine inks for acrylic stamps. I find they give the best image.

I'm always interested in learning new stamping techniques so right now I'm into using Twinkling H20s. They are awesome!!

Congrats Holly!!! I love reading your blog so thanks for keeping it up! My best stamping tip is just use them, I find to often mine go unused for months!! So I say just get them out, you can't make a mistake!!! Cheers~

Cool tool, love to win it. My tip is if stamping a sentiment or saying inside the card do it first that way if you screw it up you can always flip card inside out, cover it with layering and have a second chance to make it right. Most helpful when doing massive amount of cards like for Holiday.

Another Tip, flip card inside out when it has bulky embellishments for added protection in the mail.

What a great gift.

I really don't stamp very much but do ink the edges a lot on my layouts.

If i have to choose my favourite stamps they would have to be gel-a-tins as they are the only stamps that I own.

thanks again for the generous rak.

Hey there. First time visiting Holly. Got here from Jen's blog from Patti's blog. ...

I love using the versacolor cubes! The latest thing I've discovered and maybe I'm a tad bit late getting on this bandwagon ... but get the reinker. It keeps the little pads nice and wet for great stamping! You know how sometimes when the inkpads dry out they are great from inking the edges of paper - more of a chalk look I guess. Both ways are great with the little cubes!

Congrats on the 1st year....I remember when we talked you into it! haha

My tip is when you are going to emboss or glitter something - use a embossing buddy (SU product) or a swiffer wipe or dryer sheet (unused) to take the static off of your card stock before you stamp.

Wow, cool prize. I can't believe it's been a year since you started this. It's crazy how fast time flies.

My tip is if you want a really great black use the StazOn. I love the look it has.

Thanks for all the great tips, ladies! I'm going to give each of them a try, and really appreciate your ideas.

If you post a comment after this point, you are too late to be added to the draw for the RAK, however it would still be great to hear what your best stamping tip is. So go ahead, add a comment! It's great to hear from you!

My tots will be helping me draw the winner's name for this RAK soon, and I will be adding a blog post with the details in the next few days. Stay tuned, happy stamping and thanks again! :-)
