Peace for Marie

This morning, my Mom's late cousin Stanley's wife, Marie, was laid to rest. It's been a long haul for Marie since Stanley passed away a number of years ago, and now they are united in a better place. I think it's truly been what she has been dreaming about since Stanley left her for Heaven.

Long before she married into our family, Marie was my mother's friend and classmate. This Teddy Bear's Picnic photo of my Mom's class at school is infamous in my family.

My Grannie was an outstanding seamstress, and made my Mom a large teddy bear for this special day. As the story goes, when my mom arrived at school with her fantastically large bear, Marie took one look at it and immediately fell in love. She would have loved to have taken mom's bear home, but settled for swapping bears for the photo instead.

My mom is in the bottom right corner of the photo (holding Marie's small bear), and Marie is third from the left in the front row (holding my mom's large bear)! My Mom loves to tell this story.

Marie and her beloved Stanley are now together in a better place. Peace, Marie.
